Rob and Matt Kennedy were born and raised in Ireland and are the eldest and youngest sons of Stephen and Grace Kennedy. Our brother Anthony and sister Jessica complete the family line up. Lifelong Science Fiction fans and avid readers of the genre, we are the proud authors of Quarry Turned, a full length military science fiction novel, and the first book of the Dominion Series.

TKB T-Shirts. Seriously Guys?

A week or so ago I was on Skype with Matt, planning and discussing our ongoing pre-publication endeavours. Our conversation somehow drifted to our upcoming family holiday to Canada, and I suggested (somewhat in jest) that we should get some t-shirts with TKB logos on them for the trip.

It turned out the very same thought had occurred to Matt just a few days previous. He’d kept the idea to himself however, and gone ahead and made it a reality. A couple of days after the Skype call, having forgotten all about it, I received a rather cryptic text from Matt asking me to drop over to see him, stating that there was something I needed to see in person.

It turned out he’d gone full throttle with the t-shirts idea, and it looks like Canada are about to be treated to some walking, author shaped, TKB billboards. Well it is one way to introduce ourselves :-)

Here’s a couple of the pics from the night I dropped over to see what so desperately required my personal attention.

After failing to settle things with a good old fashioned stare down we decided TKB should go proper old school :-)

In other news, our Debut Novel Quarry turned is now in the hands of the first of our beta readers. Aside from a few moments of anxiety after pressing the irreversible send button, we’re now excitedly anticipating  their feedback.

Who are TKB?

In short, we’re brothers and co-authors. We’ve been brothers for as long as we both remember :-) and co-authors, well that’s a more recent development. We first put pen to paper, or rather pixels to Google docs, in February of last year.

My name is Rob, Robert or Bob, depending on who you ask, and on rare occasions Robs, but that’s strictly just to my mother, and that’s only when she’s feeling particularly moved or emotional. I’m the senior co-author of TKB, and by that I explicitly mean I’m the eldest member of our team of two. I have a degree and masters in psychology as well as a postgraduate diploma in statistics and have worked in the Health Service Executive here in Ireland for almost fifteen years.

My brother Matt is the other half of TKB and is the youngest of my three siblings. Matt has a science degree in addition to a degree in Model Making, Design and Digital Effects, and has more artistic creativity in his little fingers than I could ever dream to have. Matt has worked on a number of projects over the past few years, including being a part of the model making team for the 2014 film Dracula Untold. He also lectures part time at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dun Laoghaire (not a typo, and pronounced Dun Leery, believe it or not). You can find out a little bit more about TKB on our About Us page.

What can you expect to find here?

We’ll have information and updates on our current and upcoming work and progress as well as details and links to our publications as they become available.

From time to time we’ll discuss themes and topics relating to the genre of Military Science Fiction. We’ll also review some of our favourite science fiction characters, novels and series, what we’re reading now, and what we think you’d like to read too.

What are we at right now?

We’re currently completing the self editing of our debut novel Quarry Turned, the first book of the Dominion Series, which will be hitting the manuscript critiquers/beta readers any time soon before final tweaks and editing take place. We’re also working on a short story entitled Morti, centered on one of the pivotal characters introduced in Quarry Turned.
